Okay, I am a Californian. I will always be a Californian no matter where I am, but I live in SW Portland and I work in Beaverton and all I gotta say is… Rob, WTF? Now I agree that poking fun at stereotypes is a good thing, but there kinda needs to be some… oh, I don’t know… truth and accuracy in the presented stereotype for it to work. Dude, I’m not even an Oregonian, but your characterization of Piz from Beaverton was just… dude, WTF? I can’t believe you’ve never been here. Were you just drinking microbrews the whole time? Never made it out of a McMenamins? Had some sort of a fantasy flashback to your own Texas past? I mean seriously dude, What. The Fuck?

As for the ep, it was fine. Nothing earth shattering. I’ll still be happy to TiVo it since there are absolutely no new shows that I like (or at least ones that will be around that long) other than Studio 60… which also may not be around that long if the rating don’t pick up, and I still enjoyed watching Veronica and the gang for the most part. But despite the fact that I was completely neutral about Piz before the fact, I now hate that character in a way only a jaded formerly obsessed fan can. Unless… Piz is on the lamb from some dark past and he was trying to fake a persona and just happened to try the Beaverton thing because he figured no one would know enough about Beaverton to call him on it…? Nah, that’s only something that would have happened in the brilliance that was S1.

I think I know why I tend to get invested in shows on tiny networks, looking for niche audiences instead of mass appeal. I guess the drum I step to just beats at a slightly different rhythm than most everybody else’s. I kinda like that, but it makes it tough to trust any show runner, ever. Please don’t forget me Kripke, Rob and JJ have already stomped my heart into little, tiny pieces, but you don’t have to follow the crowd. Blaze a new trail; you truly have some extraordinary tools at your disposal to do it with.
